In January, his wife, Melinda Wilson, passed away suddenly at the age of 77.
The situation left Brian in need of a caretaker. And thankfully, it sounds like he will now receive the help that he needs.
“The court finds from clear and convincing evidence that a conservatorship of the person is necessary and appropriate in that (Wilson) is unable to care for (his) person,” Judge Gus T. May wrote in Thursday’s ruling.
“The conservatorship is the least restrictive alternative needed for the protection of conservatee.”
May added that Hard and Sievers have been granted the authority to “authorize the administration of medications appropriate for the care and treatment”
Brian Wilson Pays Tribute to Late Wife
Wilson has not made any sort of public statement since he paid tribute to his wife shortly after she passed.
“Our five children and I are just in tears. We are lost,” Wilson wrote on his website at the time.
“Melinda was more than my wife. She was my savior. She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career,” he continued.
“[Melinda] encouraged me to make the music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything for us. Please say a prayer for her.”
Wilson’s struggles with mental health and his relationship with Melinda were portrayed in the 2014 biopic Love & Mercy.
Celebrity Conservatorships Have Earned a Bad Reputation
Drake’s Toronto mansion was taped off by police last night following a shooting near the property.
According to a report from Page Six, the victim has now been identified as a security guard employed by Drake. The 48-year-old is believed to be in stable condition.
According to a tweet from Toronto police, shots were fired around 2:10 a.m. ET near the corner of Bayview and Lawrence Avenues.
The suspect is believed to have fled in a car immediately after the shots were fired.
Shooting Near Drake’s Home: Everything We Know So Far
The officers who responded to the call discovered a seriously wounded man who was taken to a nearby hospital.
Thankfully, no one else was harmed. Drake was not injured, and it’s unclear if he was at home at the time of the shooting.
The security guard’s injuries have been described by The New York Post as non-life-threatening.
Initially, it was hoped that the conflict that led to the shooting had nothing to do with Drake.
The cause of the dispute remains unclear, but it looks increasingly as though the rapper was being targeted.
The war of words between Drake and Kendrick is the most high-profile hip hop beef in recent memory.
Many have compared the situation to the deadly war between Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. that played out in the mid-nineties.
Earlier this week, Kendrick released a scathing diss track titled “Not Like Us.” The song featured an aerial photo of Drake’s home on its cover.
Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar Feud: Already Over, or Just Getting Started?
The bad blood between the rappers has been simmering at least since last year. It boiled over in a big way in recent weeks, with both artists releasing multiple diss tracks directed at one another.
“Not Like Us,” the latest from Kendrick, begins with the line “I see dead people” and contains ominous references to the ways in which Drake’s recent remarks have sparked outrage.
It’s important to note that these are just lines in a song, and at present, there’s no reason to believe that last night’s shooting had anything to do with the feud between Kendrick and Drake.
According to the Post, Drake’s house is at the center of the investigation. But that does not mean that the rapper was being targeted.
That said, Drake and his loved ones are likely taking extra precautions today.
We’ll have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.
He’s now part of a music duo. New songs are coming out this summer, and one single is already out (below).
DJ Casper and Jon Gosselin are teaming up
Jay-Z, Akon, and Nicki Minaj are only some of the big names who have worked with DJ Casper (real name Joseph Wright) over the years.
It just so happens that he also happens to be close friends with fellow DJ Jon Gosselin.
Together, the famed DJ Casper tellsThe US Sun, they are working to produce “high-energy, feel-good music.”
Their collaboration has already dropped one song, “Voicemail.” You can listen to that track below.
More will come out in the summer of 2024.
Collaborating on music like this may be a little new for the duo. But their friendship goes way back.
Jon Gosselin and DJ Casper met at a DJ convention
DJ Casper recalled to The US Sun how they met 10 years ago and have remained friends ever since. He is clearly excited about their collaboration.
“Jon and I are creating upbeat, vibe-y, high-energy, feel-good music,” he announced. That is certainly an underappreciated vibe for music.
“And,” he acknowledged, “I am not sure if the music will actually align to any particular genre as of now.”
“A lot of the music will feel like a beach setting or something you would want to listen to on an island,” DJ Casper then characterized of his and Jon Gosselin’s collaboration.
“When I hear the first song,” he reflected, “I envision myself driving down Rodeo Drive or down South Beach in my convertible with the top down or being in the club and just wanting to turn up.”
DJ Casper then shared: “Jon’s life experiences, the stories that we share, and our mutual foundation of friendship absolutely influence the music that we are creating.”
The chill vibes sound like a good fit for Jon Gosselin’s new music
Years ago, when Jon & Kate Plus 8 first aired (and, let’s be real, first signaled the cultural decline of TLC), Jon did not seem like a good dad. He seemed like a man who was in way over his head and felt more interested in enjoying his newfound fame than as dedicating himself to parenthood.
Perhaps that public perception was unfair. Or perhaps it wasn’t. Jon is a flawed man — he just happens to be a much better parent than his evil ex-wife.
Jon’s “party boy” image lingers for many to this day. And even though his children are all adults and he has a day job, some may scoff at him producing “party boy” music.
A lot of people with very different life circumstances can relate. Sometimes, you need good vibes — from TV, from friends, from music — to get through the bad times.
Jon and DJ Casper could definitely channel that into the music. Even if they don’t produce 2024’s “song of the summer,” they’ll almost certainly gain some new fans for their duo act.
It’s become a forgone conclusion amongst Taylor Swift’s fans that the lion share of the songs off of the Anthology were inspired by her brief affair with the 1975 rocker.
Yet, while many songs are written about Taylor’s exes, few times have one of these gentlemen been cornered and asked how they feel about the tracks they’ve inspired.
But that’s this? Oh, it looks like Matt Healy, being put right on the spot!
Taylor Swift’s Ex Matty Healy Reacts to ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Songs
A week after Taylor’s new album broke records and made Swifties cry while being productive, her ex was approached by paparazzi and asked his thoughts on the album.
ETshared the video of Matt, trying to keep low key in a blue hoodie while walking down the street in LA, looking like he’s down bad after cryin’ at the gym. A photog quickly asks him to rank his “diss track”, though doesn’t specify which one he means. Matt’s response?
“I haven’t really listened to that much of it,” he said, “but I’m sure it’s good.”
Sure, Matthew. SURE!
‘Tortured Poets Department’ Songs about Matt Healy
If you’re wondering which songs are about Matt on the album, honestly you can take your pick. There is the obvious choice, the title track of the album.
“You left your typewriter at my apartment / Straight from the tortured poets department / I think some things I never say / Like, ‘Who uses a typewriter anyway?'” she sings in the song. Matt is known for loving his analog, old school typewriter
But there are plenty others: “Fresh Out the Slammer,” “Guilty As Sin?,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” and “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” are all believed to be about Healy.
Kim Kardashian once made the mistake of starting a feud with Taylor Swift.
And now, years later, she’s experiencing the wrath of the Swifties.
Yes, as you’ve no doubt heard by now, Taylor released her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, last week.
To the surprise of fans, the release turned out to be a double album, with 31 total tracks, including a controversial song titled “thanK you aIMee.”
See the unusual capitalization in the title? Yeah, it seems that Taylor wanted to make sure the whole world would know that the song’s scathing lyrics are targeted at her longtime rival Kim Kardashian. Very early Taylor of her!
That’s when Kim’s then-husband Kanye West took credit for Tay’s career in his song “Famous.”
Kim not only sided with her husband, she also participated in a weird ruse designed to create the false impression that Taylor knew Kanye would call her a “b-tch” in the song and was cool with it.
The song features Taylor lashing out at a hometown bully who’s an obvious stand-in for Kim.
Well, perhaps the imagery wouldn’t have been quite so clear if it weren’t for that title, but as it is, there’s no doubt Taylor is settling a score with an equally famous woman who once pretended to be her friend, only to betray her publicly.
“Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman / But she used to say she wished that you were dead,” Taylor sings at one point.
Swifties got the message loud and clear, and according to a new report from Us Weekly, tens of thousands of them have now unfollowed Kim on social media.
In fact, the outlet claims that Kim has lost an astonishing 120,000 followers since the release of Taylor’s album.
Kardashian Fans Urge Kris Jenner to Step In
The situation has gotten so bad that Kardashian fans have taken notice, and they’re begging Kris Jenner to swoop in and work her PR magic.
“Kris, you need to help Kim. Why you being quiet. Work that magic on this TayTay drama, girl,” wrote one fan in her comment section, according to Us Weekly.
“Me just waiting for Kris to spin this Taylor beef into a new Skimms collection or something. Y’all wait,” said another.
“Kris ain’t crying, y’all. She’s telling Kim ‘you’re doing great Sweetie’, with this Taylor s-t lol”, added a third.
“You Swifties think that Taylor won?” a fourth asked. “She just solidified Kim as a legend by dedicating a whole song to her.”
Perhaps Kim and Kris will indeed be able to turn this negative into a positive. They’ve certainly pulled off that magic trick before.
But then again, neither of them has ever done battle with a force as powerful as an army of angry Swifties!
There’s one narrative Taylor Swift will never be excluded from: finding love.
One of her first huge hits, Fifteen, is still a fan favorite to this day. Following the drop of The Tortured Poets Department, song sleuths think they’ve found the next chapter of the love story.
The song is called “So High School” and along with it sounding like a sequel to the Fearless track, it also may be a love ode to her new boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Taylor Swift’s New Song ‘So High School’: Is It A Sequel To ‘Fifteen’?
Time travel back with us, if you will, to the year 2008. Taylor Swift had just dropped her album Fearless, her first album to win her Album of the Year at the Grammys.
One of the most beloved tracks on that album is “Fifteen”, the country lovesick anthem of a freshman teenage girl experiencing high school for the first time. She makes a best friend named Abigail, finds herself at odds with the cool girls, but most importantly, falls in love with a boy on the football team.
Fast forward to 2024, nearly 15 years later (our first clue?), and Taylor drops a new song on Tortured Poets Department called “So High School”. Immediately, fans picked up on how similar the melody sounds in both songs. Indeed some of the guitar riffs are incredibly similar, if you listen closely.
“SO HIGH SCHOOL FEELS LIKE FIFTEEN’S OLDER SISTER,” wrote one fan on X.
But the proof is all in the perfect aligned lyrics. In “Fifteen,” Taylor sings. “Well, in your life you’ll do things Greater than dating the boy on the football team.”
In “So High School”, she hints at dating the football player still. “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.”
It all really fits – and it also seems to be speaking about her current love life!
Taylor Pens Love Song to Travis Kelce on ‘Tortured Poets Department’
Taylor is very happily attached to Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce these days. While the majority of the new album deals with heartbreak and lost love, Taylor Swift’s “So High School” is one of the few tracks talking about a happy ending.
And there’s one crystal clear clue that the song is about Travis.
“Are you gonna marry, kiss or kill me? Kill me. It’s just a game, but really, really, I’m betting on all three for us two,” Swift sings. It’s feels like a pointed nod to a video that resurfaced of Travis being asked the exact question in an interview, year before they got together.
Spoiler alert: He said he would marry Katy Perry, kiss Taylor Swift, and kill Ariana Grande. Hopefully, that ranking has changed now!
‘The Tortured Poets Department’: Who Else Gets A Shout Out?
But Travis isn’t the only person in Taylor’s orbit who gets a shoutout on the album.
Most of the double album seems to be focused on her brief affair with Matt Healy. There’s also a number of songs seemingly directed at Joe Alwyn, like “The Black Dog” that hints at the rumor he cheated on her after six years together.
There’s also shoutouts to pals Lucy and Charlie Puth, who we have to agree does deserve to be a bigger artist. She also name drops two poets – Dylan Thomas and Patti Smith – who might be fairly unknown to her audience, but who are fascinating all the same.
Then there’s a not-so-sublte diss track directed straight at Kim Kardashian. The title? “thanK you aIMee.”
As fans are dissecting every syllable of Taylor Swift’s new album, there are some questions about some of the places and people discussed.
One of the tracks onThe Tortured Poets Departmentis called “The Black Dog” and some seriously devastating stuff went down there, according to the Chairman.
“I watch as you walk into some bar called The Black Dog and pierce new holes in my heart,” Taylor sings on the track.
Could this be the infamous location Joe Alwyn was allegedly caught sneaking off to by Taylor, cementing their break up? Let’s dive in.
The Black Dog Lyrics: Is The Song About Ex Joe Alwyn?
This has never been confirmed, but in “The Black Dog” track, which is a variant song on the album, Taylor talks about uncovering the truth about a lover stepping out on her. The first verse goes:
I am someone who until recent events you shared your secrets with And your location You forgot to turn it off And so I watch as you walk into some bar called The Black Dog and pierce new holes in my heart You forgot to turn it off And it hits me
And with that, some fans have theorized that, either while they were together or shortly after they broke up, Joe left his phone’s “Share My Location” feature turned on, so the Midnights singer was able to track where he was going.
Why Joe? Well, for starters, using the “Share My Location” feature isn’t something you do with someone you’ve been with for two weeks (we see you Matt Healy). Taylor and Joe were together 6 years, there’s some trust there.
But the other reason fans think this is a hint towards Joe is that The Black Dog is an actual place in London, where Joe lives.
Where Is The Black Dog Bar?
A quick Google Maps search and fans were able to find that th Black Dog Freehouse is an actual pub in Vauxhall, an area in London known for its nightlife.
Taylor has made a point of talking about locations in London in her songs before: the Garden Gate in “Cruel Summer”, Hampstead and Highgate in “London Boy”, and of course, there’s a whole song dedicated to bidding farewell to the city on TTPD, “So Long, London.”
With a history of loving London landmarks in her music, and the fact that Joe is from the city, the pieces all seem to be fitting together. But let’s dive in a bit deeper still.
Is The Song About Joe Moving On With Emma Laird?
Now, cheating is not explicitly implied in the song. It could also be a song just about someone’s lover moving on and the pain of having to deal with that.
In fact, “black dog” can be a term referring to feelings of depression, great sadness and lack of energy, according to the Cambridge Dictionary.
As many Swifties know, in September 2023, Joe was linked to his 24-year-old The Brutalist costar Emma Laird. The lyrics of the song also talk about Taylor’s lover taking up with a younger woman, someone who didn’t have the same musical tastes as them.
How you don’t miss me in The Black Dog when someone plays The Starting Line And you jump up, “But she’s too young to know this song!”
Ah, the web she weaves with her music, huh?
Full Lyrics For ‘The Black Dog’
I am someone who until recent events you shared your secrets with And your location You forgot to turn it off And so I watch as you walk into some bar called The Black Dog and pierce new holes in my heart You forgot to turn it off And it hits me, I just don’t understand
How you don’t miss me in The Black Dog when someone plays The Starting Line And you jump up, “But she’s too young to know this song!” That was intertwined in the magic fabric of our dreaming Old habits die screaming
I move through the world with a heart broken My longings stay unspoken and I may never open up the way I did for you And all of those best laid plans, you said I needed a brave man Then proceeded to play him until I believed it too And it kills me, I just don’t understand
How you don’t miss me in the shower? And remember how my rain soaked body was shaking, do you hate me? Was it hazing for a cruel fraternity I pledged? And I still mean it, old habits die screaming
Six weeks of breathing clean air, I still miss the smoke Were you making fun of me with some esoteric joke? Now I wanna sell my house and set fire to all my clothes And hire a priest to come and exorcise my demons Even if I die screaming And I hope you hear it
And I hope it’s shitty in The Black Dog when someone plays The Starting Line And you jump up, “But she’s too young to know this song!” That was intertwined in the tragic fabric of our dreaming’ Cause tail between your legs you’re leaving
I still can’t believe it’ Cause old habits die screaming
As you may also have heard, many of the songs on The Tortured Poets Department take aim at ex-boyfriends Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy… but astute listeners have taken note of a track that also seems to be focused on a certain long-time rival of this global superstar.
Yes, we’re looking at YOU, Kim Kardashian.
Taylor Swift’s Diss Track: “thanK you aIMee”
The song in question is titled “thanK you aIMee.”
Take a close look at the letters capitalized in that title, folks. They spell KIM.
Read or listen to the actual lyrics and you’ll see that Swift confirms she isn’t singing about someone named “Aimee,” as she croons:
“I don’t think you’ve changed much and so I changed your name and any real defining clues.”
In the chorus, Swift really takes it to Kardashian, with whom she’s feuded for over eight years now, off and on.
“All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’, and I can’t forget the way you made me feel,” Taylor sings.
“Screamed, ‘F–k you, Aimee,’ to the night sky, as the blood was gushin’, but I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”
Comparing Kim (we assume) to a bully, Taylor’s lyrics describe this individual as a “bronze spray-tanned statue” in her hometown that “threatens to push me down the stairs at our school.”
Kim and Taylor’s Feud: What Led To This?
For those who may have forgotten, Kardashian’s ex-husband, Kanye West, rapped the following in a 2016 track titled “Famous.”
I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that b-tch famous.
Kim later leaked parts of a conversation West had with Swift prior to this release, making it look as if Taylor had approved the insulting line.
But we later learned the full scope of this conversation and Taylor was validated: she never approved of West referring to her in such degrading fashion.
Ever since, Swift has made subtle references to Kardashian as a snake; and she told TIME magazine a few months ago:
“You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.
“That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.”
Taylor’s Sweet Revenge
What’s the best revenge, however?
How about Kim’s children forever singing Swift’s songs, something we’ve seen North West do on TikTok multiple times over the recent years?
Swift also makes a mention of this in “thanK you aIMee,” while seemingly alluding to her own mother, Andrea Swift, who wants aIMee dead.
“Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman but she used to say she wished you dead,” Swift belts out here.
Kim, of course, has a child named Saint.
As always, Taylor Swift just operates at an entirely different level than anyone else.
As you’re likely aware, Taylor has dropped several surprises on fans in the past 24 hours, including the news that TTPD is a double album.
And then there’s the music itself, which — as fans have come to expect — features lyrics that contain numerous intriguing references to the events of Taylor’s personal life.
But TTPD also contains revelations about Taylor’s life that were never the subject of any tabloid headlines.
Taylor Swift Refers to ‘Functional Alcoholic’ Past on ‘Fortnight’
In the opening lines of the of the opening track on TTPD, Taylor sings:
“I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me / I was a functioning alcoholic ’til nobody noticed my new aesthetic.”
The song, “Fortnight,” features Post Malone, and it quickly emerged as one of music critics’ favorite tracks on TTPD.
But not surprisingly, many listeners were more fixated on those eyebrow-raising opening lyrics than on the music.
Some fans think that the lyrics are just alluding to the many drinking references on Taylor’s Midnights album.
Others believe that Taylor is not the “speaker” of this particular poetic narrative. These folks point out that not every line the pop icon sings needs to be autobiographical.
Still, knowing that her lyrics are usually interpreted in that way, Taylor chose to open her album with those lines.
Make of that what you will.
Fortunately, if Taylor really was indicating that she was once an alcoholic, she also seemed to be saying that those days are now behind her.
That said, we know that Taylor is not completely sober these days.
In discussions about Taylor Swift’s past relationships, Matty Healy’s name is rarely mentioned — and with good reason.
Yes, the 1975 singer is the last guy that Taylor dated before Travis Kelce.
But she and Matty weren’t together for very long, and there seemed to be minimal drama involved in the relationship and the subsequent breakup.
In fact, when word got out that Taylor’s upcoming album, The Tortured Poets Department, was inspired in part by a painful breakup, many Swifties concluded that the lyrics would focus on her split from Joe Alwyn.
The Matty situation seemed more like a fling that was quickly forgotten once Tay met Travis.
But the TTPD leaked and the rumors about the album’s lyrics indicate that things got messy between Taylor and Matty — so much so that she felt the need to process the breakup by writing about it.
Is Taylor Swift’s New Album Mostly About Matty Healy?
In fact, fans who have listened to the leaked version claim that about 80 percent of the lyrics on TTPD appear to be inspired by Matty.
That’s probably an exaggeration, but the fact remains that if the leaked songs are legit then Joe Alwyn can breathe easy.
“I feel so bad for joe alwyn like imagine being terrorized by swifties for a whole ass year, yet the album is about matty healy,” one listener wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“I was here minding my own business and the next thing i know there are people on my tl saying ttpd is mostly about matty healy.. like,” another added.
“Opening up the timeline to people saying that taylor swift’s new album is 80% about matty healy,” a third chimed in.
News that the album is Matty-centric is surprising not only because the couple didn’t date for very long, but also because sources close to Taylor downplayed the breakup as no big deal.
Why Did Taylor and Matty Break Up?
“They are both extremely busy and realized they’re not really compatible with each other,” one insider told Entertainment Tonight shortly after news of the split went public.
Other sources seemed to confirm that the split was mutual and fairly amicable.
But it seems that Taylor is offering a very different take on the situation with her new album.
Fans believe that Taylor refers to Matty as both “the smallest man in the world” and a “tattooed golden retriever” in the lyrics.
“Sometimes I wonder if you’re gonna screw this up with me, but you told Lucy you’d kill yourself if I ever leave,” reads one allegedly leaked line.
“And I had said that to Jack about you so I felt seen / Everyone we know understands why it’s meant to be.”
The names likely refer to Taylor’s longtime producer Jack Antonoff and Boygenius singer Lucy Dacus, a mutual friend of Taylor and Matty’s.
Taylor, of course, likes to leave clues and subtle references in her lyrics for the benefit of her most devoted fans.
But it seems that when it comes to singing about her experience with Matty, Taylor is just putting it all out there.
Matty might want to steer clear of social media for a month or so after this album drops.
If you knew that, you probably wouldn’t have been so surprised by the fact that she name dropped him on her new album. Then again, it seems like most people didn’t, so… guess you’re not alone!
After a leak of Taylor’s latest album hit the web a day before the release, a slew of lyrics from The Tortured Poets Department started to make the rounds. One in particular started to go viral, since it involved a shout out to someone Taylor’s never been linked to, at least romantically.
Enter Charlie Puth to the chat. And yes, they do have some history.
Taylor Swift Name Drops Charlie Puth In New Lyrics
Spoiler alert: we’re about to share some potential lyrics off the new album. If you’d rather not know, scroll ahead a bit.
Taylor reportedly references Charlie Puth in the album’s title track, The Tortured Poets Department. Those who have listened to the song at first were blown away by the fact that it felt like the song was about her brief tryst with Matt Healy.
But then focus turned to another man, name dropped in the song. The lyrics go:
“You smoked and ate seven bars of chocolate / we declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist / I scratch your head, you fall asleep / Like a tattooed Golden Retriever.”
Now, the initially, the reaction on social media was not kind. Some people actually had the audacity to criticize her song writing skills. To them, we say, “And how many Album of the Year Grammys do YOU have?!”
But after the trolls calmed themselves, more loyal fans started questioning why Taylor and Charlie haven’t collaborated yet. They certainly have a fondness for each other.
Taylor Swift & Charlie Puth: Are They Friends?
Yes, they are friends … or, at the very least, friendly! They certainly sing each other’s praises time and time again. And we do mean that literally.
Taylor may have name dropped him in the song, but Charlie has more than once performed Taylor’s songs in concert. Behold this acoustic set of Taylor’s song Trouble performed by Charlie in Minneapolis in 2023.
He also did a marvelous mashup of “Fifteen” from Fearless and “Blank Space” from 1989 during a show in NYC in 2022. Honestly, for years Charlie has been proving he’s a hardcore Swiftie, revering her music as only a true fan would.
There was a time back in 2021 when Charlie went on about “Teardrops on My Guitar,” in an social media video. “This is why she’s such a genius, man. These are the chord changes,” Puth said before singing the first verse. “It’s wonderful. I think it’s wonderful,” he said.
But don’t think that up until now it’s been a one way street. Taylor has made it clear how much she loves Charlie Puth before this as well.
When Taylor finally jumped TikTok in 2021, Charlie was among the first to welcome his “fellow Sag” to the platform. Taylor responded in kind. “I’ve lurked your account for ages! Thanks for the welcome, piano prince.”
Piano prince? That sounds like a great name for a next album, Charlie. GET ON THAT!
As you quite possibly may have heard, Taylor Swift is coming out with her 11th studio album — very, very, very soon!
It will be released at midnight EST on April 19.
We’ve known this release date for months, but what else do we know about the upcoming Taylor Swift album?!?
With fans clamoring for every shred of information available, The Hollywood Gossip has some some digging. We’ve done some investigating. We’ve asked some questions.
And we’re excited to present the following answers in regard to The Tortured Poets Department…
Has Travis Kelce Listened to Any of the Album?
You know it!
“I have heard some of it, yes. And it is unbelievable,” Swift’s boyfriend previously told reporters. “I can’t wait for her to shake up the world when it finally drops.”
Added Kelce back then when asked for any follow-up details:
“I can’t give you anything. I’ll leave that up to her.”
How Will Fans Be Able to Listen to the Album?
It will be released on vinyl, cassette, CD and digital.
Fans will also get a chance to listen to Swift’s album on Spotify and Apple Music when it comes out.
(Hilarious Note: Spotify has reportedly been preparing for the release after fan traffic crashed the site in October 2022 following the release of Swift’s previous album, Midnights.)
Will There Be Any Affiliated Music Videos?
Does the following Instagram post answer this question?
Swift recently teased the “TTPD Timetable” with an animated video posted to Instagram that confirmed a music video for one of the new songs will be dropping Friday evening at 8 p.m. EST. EEK!
The social media footage opens on a clock reading 2:00 inside a room that’s reminiscent of Swift’s 1970s-inspired Midnights visuals.
The camera then exits the room and moves down a bland hallway before landing on a door labeled, “The Tortured Poets Department.”
Entering through the keyhole, we see a sparse black and white space that features two desks facing each other with empty chairs. Atop the desks are black typewriters, loose papers and coffee cups.
Who Is Taylor Swift Collaborating With on The Tortured Poets Society?
Featured on the tracklist previously dropped by Swift?
Collaborations with Post Malone (“Fortnight”) and Florence + the Machine (“Florida!!!”).
Swift’s longtime collaborator, Jack Antonoff, is also listed in the credits for co-writing a number of the new singles.
Speaking of That Tracklist…
Here it is!

Florence + the Machine “Guilty as Sin?” “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” “loml” “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” “The Alchemy” “Clara Bow” “The Manuscript” OR “The Bolter” OR “The Albatross” (Bonus Track)
What Has Taylor Said About the Album?
“Okay, this is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that,” Swift said in February on stage while accepting the Best Pop Vocal Album award for her last original album.
“I want to say thank you to the members of the Recording Academy for voting this way, but I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans.”
She then dropped the bombshell:
“I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out April 19th. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I’m gonna go post the cover right now backstage.
Is Taylor Swift planning to drop two albums at once?
While The Tortured Poets Department is bad news for Joe Alwyn, it’s good news for her untold millions of fans.
But will hearing Taylor’s new album be the only exciting development before she returns to her Eras World Tour?
Fans believe that Taylor has a surprise for them. And some hardcore Swifties believe that Taylor is preparing a second, surprise album to drop alongside The Tortured Poets Department.
‘The Tortured Poets Department’ has a Friday, April 19 release date
Taylor Swift’s 11th studio album has plenty of anticipation of its own.
Taylor has been leaving a trail of clues (as is her habit) for diehard Swifties to follow. This means that her most devoted fans have spent the weeks, days, and hours leading up to her album release conjuring up theories about what Taylor has in store for everyone.
TikTok denizen and self-described “obsessed” Swiftie Emerson (@swiftlyobsessed) shared a theory on Monday, April 15.
The theory, posted to TikTok where information and disinformation both spread like wildfire, suggested that The Tortured Poets Department will actually be part of a “double-album drop” with another LP.
It all comes down to a QR code teaser as part of a mural on Chicago’s River North District that same night.
Taylor Swift gave you all of the clues
The “ttpd13” QR code led to a 13-second clip on Swift’s YouTube page, which in turn shows a typewriter with “Error 321” and a very faint “13.”
This might not be The Da Vinci Code, but it’s an exciting teaser for fans who spent the previous two months counting down the minutes for the album’s release.
“Error 321” is what Taylor’s (seemingly crashed) site read hours before the Grammy Awards where she announced her new album. Of course, it also included the jumbled phrase “red herring,” which very reasonably leads people to suggest that this is misleading.
As for what fans imagine that the bonus LP might be, Emerson suggests that Taylor might be releasing a re-recording of Reputation, her sixth studio album.
Taylor has produced a number of “Taylor’s Versions,” so many it’s a bit of a meme. Perhaps it’s already time for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) to launch?
Is Taylor Swift really dropping TWO albums?
As numerous social media commenters — on TikTok and on other, better platforms — pointed out, she’s unlikely to steal limelight from her own album. The Tortured Poets Department will certainly get its time in the sun.
However, some fans suggested that she might announce that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) or some other, similarly exciting project is coming out.
Taylor announced this album at an awards show, so she doesn’t mind announcements at important events. An announcement by itself won’t steal the thunder from her album release.
After Kendrick Lamar aimed at Drake and J. Cole on Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That,” Drake has apparently fired back — although there’s been no official confirmation — with a diss track that surfaced on social media on Saturday (April 13). Early in the day, a four-minute “leaked” song attributed to Drake hit social […]
The lineup for the 2024 show is stacked, but what’s a good Coachella without surprise guests?!
Destiny’s Child with Beyonce, the Tupac hologram – honestly, the surprises are bigger than the fashion at Coachella!
This year, there are so many huge acts taking the stage, and so many eyeballs watching around the world, not just the thousands poised to show up in the valley.
So, who might show up for the big show? We have some solid suggestions.
Coachella Surprise Guests: Which Acts Might Invite Famous Collaborators To Join Them?
Before we can talk about any special performances, we have to talk about the lineup. Whether you live for rap or contemporary pop or even very specific 90’s female-led rock bands, Coachella has something for everyone.
Tyler, the Creator; Sabrina Carpenter; Doja Cat; Ice Spice; Deftones, Renee Rapp; Young Miko – this show is beyond fire!
On Friday, the highlight of the Main stage will be Lana Del Rey, while on Saturday, every millennial everywhere will be jamming out to the reunion of No Doubt.
But it’s not just these huge names you’ll have to look out; it’s the famous friends who may show up to support, or even perform with them.
Stars like…
Taylor Swift At Coachella?!
While Taylor Swift does deserve to continue her well earned break from performing the Eras tour, there’s no denying that if ever there was a time for her to be a surprise guest at Coachella, 2024 would be the year.
Three of her closest musical friends and collaborators at taking the stage: Lana Del Rey, Ice Spice and Jack Antonoff, who is performing with his band, Bleachers. All of them showed up for her and performed as special guests on her Eras tour. Time to return the favor!
Blake Shelton To Surprise Gwen Stefani?
No doubt the highlight of Coachella 2024 is, well, the reunion of Gwen Stefani and No Doubt. But will Gwen and the boys let her hubby Blake Shelton join them onstage?
While the pair have several duets they could perform, it is hard to argue that their country collabs have a place in the Coachella set list. Then again Shelton teased No Doubt’s Coachella set when Gwen joined him onstage at his show at Acrisure Arena the month before, so maybe he’s pumped about it?
How About… Robert Pattinson???
This is – ok, it’s a long shot and maybe with a dash of too much wishful thinking. (What can we say, we’re still Team Edward!) Robert just welcomed his first child with partner Suki Waterhouse, who incidentally will be performing both weekends of Coachella. A mom getting right back to work after birth?! HERO!
Now, while she and Robert are both singers, it must be admitted that they have never collaborated together on a song. But what a place to debut it, wouldn’t you agree?
Megan Thee Stallion Needs To Be At Coachella, Full Stop
If nothing else happens at Coachella, we hope this does. Stallion has already performed at Coachella, but she recently collaborated with Reneé Rapp on her Mean Girls single “Not My Fault.” She even joined Rapp onstage to sing the jam on Saturday Night Live earlier this year. Another surprise performance wouldn’t be totally out of the realm of possibility, right?
As Blake Shelton wraps up yet another successful tour, fans are hoping the singer will make a surprise appearance at Coachella!
Shelton has never played the iconic music festival before, but that could easily change this year.
In addition to the fact that his schedule is newly open, Blake’s wife, Gwen Stefani, will be providing one of this year’s most anticipated performances.
Gwen will be reuniting with members of No Doubt on Coachella’s main stage.
It will be the first time in 10 years that Gwen will perform with the band that helped make her famous in the ’90s.
Will Blake Shelton Join Gwen Stefani at Coachella?
In a recent interview with Nylon, Gwen discussed her relationship with Blake through a professional lens.
She revealed that collaborating with her husband is her greatest joy as a singer-songwriter, and she suggested that they might one day release an album together.
“I feel like Blake and I are already a project together,” Stefani told the outlet.
“I’m always going to want to write music with Blake Shelton.”
Gwen went on to note that she and Blake have already dueted on several songs in the past, including the single “Purple Irises,” which they released earlier this year.
The song’s lyrics were inspired in part by the challenges of life in the spotlight and the divorce rumors that have plagued Gwen and Blake in recent years.
“The truth is I am in love with my best friend, and all this sh-t I’m thinking of in my brain, that’s all it is,” she said.
“When you’re in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us. You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship — I mean, a week ago we were getting divorced again or something. It’s just lies,” Gwen continued.
“The truth is the truth, and we know what that is. And so that [negativity] would never penetrate just by me being vulnerable and sharing a song that I didn’t write for anybody else but myself and Blake.”
Neither Blake nor Gwen has commented on the possibility that he’ll join her on stage at Coachella.
But as many fans have noted, the timing is certainly right for Shelton to take on a new project.
What’s Next For Blake Shelton?
Following in Gwen’s footsteps, Blake left The Voice earlier this year, and he recently wrapped one of the biggest and most ambitious tours of his career.
“This was one hell of a tour y’all!!!” Blake wrote on Instagram this week in tribute to the band and crew that made the tour possible.
“Let’s hear it for the band and crew that worked so hard every day to help us give y’all the best show!!!!”
So Blake has some time on his hands, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s planning to join Gwen on stage at Coachella.
In fact, we’d be surprised if he does — after all, country and ska would make for a very strange mix of genres.
On Sunday, country star Morgan Wallen was arrested for throwing a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar. And there’s reason to believe that the incident might have been prompted by news about his ex-fiancee.
According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Wallen may have been upset after learning that the ex in question, KT Smith, recently eloped with a man named Luke Scornavacco just five days after the couple announced their engagement.
Smith and Wallen previously dated on and off for three years.
They called off their engagement in 2019, but they welcomed a son together the following year.
Morgan Wallen Outburst Caused By News of Ex-Fiancee Wedding, Sources Claim
“KT’s marriage to Luke [Scornavacco] last week just crushed him,” an insider told the Mail.
“Whatever happened at that bar had to be reality hitting him in the face over losing the love of his life.”
The source went on to confirm that Wallen cheated on Smith during their relationship.
But apparently, his own culpability didn’t make the breakup any easier for the singer-songwriter.
“Morgan has never gotten over her even though he couldn’t stay faithful to her,” the source alleged.
“And now another man is going to be raising his son.”
Wallen was apparently aware that Smith and Scornavacco had gotten engaged, but he was shocked by the news that they tied the knot in a quickie courthouse ceremony less than a week later.
“Of course he knew they were engaged and eventually going to get married — but eloping just days after they got engaged?” the source told the Mail.
Smith has confirmed the nuptial news on Instagram, and she recently posted a photo of a negative pregnancy test in response to rumors of a shotgun wedding.
“This is for all the trolls,” she captioned the pic, “so pls continue to be as invested in my uterus once we are actually pregnant LOL.”
Another Setback For Wallen
Wallen’s arrest on Sunday is the latest in a long line of PR nightmares for the country star.
Earlier this week, fans of Wallen’s booed Taylor Swift when he mentioned her during a performance. (Wallen discouraged the jeers, but Swifties still weren’t happy about the video that emerged.)
Now, news that the chair Wallen tossed crashed near two police officers after falling four stories is not exactly doing wonders for the troubled singer’s reputation.
We’ll have further updates on this developing story as new information becomes available.
Beyonce has made history – AGAIN! – as the first Black woman to come in at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart with her “Act II: Cowboy Carter,” according to Billboard.
This coming directly off the cowboy boot heels of Beyonce’s country songs topping the charts immediately after releasing.
“Texas Hold ‘Em,” already made history as it’s success made her the first Black woman with a #1 country song. Ever.
Clearly, it seems the Beyhive’s vibing with the Queens new sound, but what about true blue country fans? And what about solidly country artists?
We’re sad to say there is division on that front, with certain group of people are absolutely fuming that she’s part of the music genre at all.
Beyonce truly made history with her latest music: Number 1 in Country music!
On Tuesday, February 20, Billboard announced that Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” has hit the Number 1 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.
Rolling Stone has confirmed the significance — that Beyonce is the first Black woman to top that charge since 1958, when it came into being.
Then, after the Cowboy Carter album dropped, Bey made history again, becoming the the first Black woman to come in at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart.
Beyonce’s music didn’t premiere without a hitch, though
Just a short time after Beyonce’s historic Grammy Awards wins earlier this month, she used a Super Bowl commercial to announce her upcoming album — which arrives in late March of 2024.
“Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” dropped immediately onto streaming services.
Beyonce announcing new music at the most-watched Super Bowl in history is a very winning combination.
The fan outcry from the Beyhive and from music fans alike was intense and very justified. The radio station reversed course, with overwhelmingly positive results.
In fact, most other radio DJs have noted that they’d love it if Beyonce’s fans, who are only dipping their toes into the Country music pond for her sake, find that they enjoy other songs of the genre.
Not only that, but Cowboy Carter also leaped to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making this album her eighth No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200!
The album sold 407,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending April 4, according to Luminate.
Not bad! Not bad at all! And yet, there is still a fierce debate over whether Beyonce’s album should even be considered country at all!
Not Everyone Is A Fan, While Others Defend Beyonce With Their Whole Heart
But it’s not just fans who are divided. There are celebs who are at odd over Beyonce’s new music venture as well.
The Dukes of Hazzard alum John Schneider whined to fringe-right platform OAN that this is a case of “lefties in the entertainment industry” trying to “seize control” over country music.
The has-been actor suggested that Beyonce is “just like a dog in a dog walk park. You know, every dog has to mark every tree, right? So that’s what’s going on here.”
Shocking words! But not necessarily surprising words from a man whose most famous work features America’s most notorious symbol of racial hatred on the hood of the show’s “iconic” car.
But we digress: What’s truly frustrating is this the insinuation that Beyonce’s music is not “true” country.
Never mind that this is not Beyonce’s first foray into country, just her first full album. And let’s all just forget the fact that she is from Texas, we guess!
But, it’s certainly true that Beyonce’s music covers numerous genres. It is part of why she has such a massive, passionate fanbase.
Others stepped in to cheer on Beyonce’s Country milestone
“I think the leaning into country elements, and sort of reclaiming country music back to Black people, because they created the genre, is such a statement,” Country singer Maren Morris told E! News in mid-February.
“The more the merrier,” Lainey Wilson told Extra, as you can see below. “[Country music] is about that storytelling. It’s about making people feel at home. And everybody wants to feel at home.”
Bobby Bones gave an impassioned speech on behalf of Beyonce’s music during a February 14 broadcast.
“You have, like, Post Malone, where everybody’s going ‘We can’t wait!’” the American radio personality pointed out.
“You’re hypocritical if you’re like, ‘I like Post Malone coming but not Beyonce,'” Bones noted. “Beyonce’s been on the CMAs, Beyonce did Sugarland … it’s crazy to me how people get upset about it.”
This is not Beyonce’s first rodeo
The legendary singer, who again is from Houston, Texas, has incorporated Country elements into her music in the past. Particularly, during her 2016 hit, Lemonade.
Country music isn’t for everyone. Even Beyonce’s music isn’t for everyone. Not vibing with specific tunes can have unsavory causes, but it isn’t inherently racist.
But suggesting that Beyonce’s Country songs don’t belong on a Country station? That sounds almost as racist as whatever the hell John Schneider was rambling about “dog walk parks.”
Two months after his death, Toby Keith will be remembered by the country community at the CMT Awards with a tribute performance.
The seven-time Grammy winner, who co-hosted the CMT Awards several time, will be honored after he passed away after battling stomach cancer.
The performance is set to be one of the highlights of the evening. Here’s what you can expect.
Toby Keith’s All-Star Tribute At CMT Music Awards: Who’s Performing?
Among those slated to perform the tribute are some of the hottest country stars of the new generation. Lainey Wilson, who’s is wildly popular for both her music and turn on Yellowstone, leads the pack.
She’ll be joined by country music duo Brooks & Dunn and Sammy Hagar. The latter appeared alongside Keith on an episode of his TV series “Rock & Roll Road Trip” in 2022.
Along with these musical acts, two special appearances are slated to open the tribute. Singer Lukas Nelson is set to be involved, along with Roger Clemons, son of Willie Clemons, who recorded the hit duet “Beer for My Horses” with Keith in 2008.
Toby At The CMT Awards Through The Years
It seems only fitting that the show would pay special tribute to Toby Keith.
Not only was he a beloved country star, but he also was a part of the award show’s humble beginnings.
He hosted the show twice – once in 2003 and once in 2023 – alongside two, blonde bombshells: Pamela Anderson and Kristen Bell.
He also performed on the show 13 times, including one 10-year consecutive run of appearances.
Lest us not forget, he was also nominated 30 times, winning seven awards over the years.
CMT Music Award Performers In 2024
Along with the artists collected to pay tribute to Toby Keith, the night promises a slew of other great performances.
Kelsea Ballerini, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Cody Johnson, Dasha, and Jason Aldean are all set to hit the stage.
They’ll be joined by Bailey Zimmerman, Megan Moroney, Sam Hunt, a special joint performance by Little Big Town/Sugarland, and Trisha Yearwood, who is receiving a special humanitarian award.
