“My dream was to be married forever and grow old with this person. I did not want to be in this position, trust me.”

So said Kyle Richards in February during an appearance on The Today Show.

Unfortunately for the long-time reality star, this dream has not become a reality.

While making the above statement, Richards was referring to her husband of 27 years, Mauricio Umansky, from whom Kyle is now separated.

Her profile used to read “Kyle Richards Umansky.” Though she’s never used Mauricio’s name in an official capacity, she always did love to be called Mrs. Umansky outside of Hollywood.

But the tides have changed. Now on Instagram, she has dropped her husband’s surname so that it reads “Kyle Richards.” However, she still lists “wife” in her bio.

So, maybe there is still some hope?!

Kyle Richards Divorced: How Her First Marriage Ended

Richards and Umansky announced their split in July 2023, although the two appear to still be legally married.

This cannot be said, of course, for Richards and Guraish Aldjufrie.

He might not be known to the average Bravo viewer, but Aldjufrie met Richards at a concert in the late 1980s

He didn’t speak much English at the time, but he and Richards reportedly had a blast at this event… and were then married with a year, with Kyle giving birth to the then-couple’s daughter, Farrah Brittany Aldjufrie, on October 31, 1988.

The spouses got divorced in 1992.

There are no hard feelings, however.

“He loved me. We had a beautiful daughter together. I loved him. And I was just too young to be married,” she said during a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 12 confessional.

Aldjufrie has since relocated to Bali, where he now resides full-time, although he appears remain close with his daughter.

“Thank you for teaching me and guiding me through life. I’m so grateful for our amazing bond,” Farrah wrote in 2020 in honor of her dad’s birthday.

“I think there were certain things that were there that we had kind of been putting on the back burner for a long time. You know, you’re pregnant and you’re breastfeeding.

“And I think I just kind of came to a, I would say a breaking point, honestly. And I’ve gone through a lot. I lost my best friend, and I think that really does change you and makes you look at things differently.”

Richards has also said she simply needed space from Mauricio, implying the break-up may be temporary.

“It’s not like there was one big thing [that caused the split],” Richards said on Season 13 of the aforementioned series.

The estranged spouses couple share three biological daughters: Alexia Simone Umansky, Sophia Kylie Umansky and Portia Umansky.

But after that dramatic season, Kyle admitted in interviews that she was giving serious consideration to walking away.

“I always say, ‘I don’t know,’ and each season I think, ‘Well maybe I can do one more,'” she shared at the time.

“And sometimes I’m just like, ‘How can I keep doing this?’ especially when I get really upset,” Kyle added.

Kyle cited times when she gets upset “like this last season when we ended.”

When Season 12 wrapped, she felt that it was finally her last time filming as a Real Housewife.

“I, personally, am just trying not to think about it,” she told the outlet.

“Because I need a break from all of that. As soon as the reunion finished and wrapped up, Buying Beverly Hills started, so I just kept having in my face over and over again. I’m like, ‘I just need a break.’ Whenever they talk about it, I’m like, ‘Too soon, guys!'”

Maybe too soon for her, but for everyone else on the edge of their seat, they just want to know now!

While nothing is confirmed, Kyle dropped a huge hint that she’s finished with her role on the reality series when she announced she was moving out of Los Angeles in January 2024.

Obviously, no one can say for sure that Kyle and Mauricio didn’t spend time together on her birthday. But as far as fans know, Kyle’s big day was all about buddy time with Morgan.

Late last week, Kyle Richards was a guest on Live with Kelly and Mark.

There, viewers saw a sneak peek of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

During the footage, Kyle was discussing the state of things with her bestie, Dorit Kemsley.

“I mean, have you had any thoughts recently?” Dorit asked. What an oddly phrased question.

“Like do you think you would not end up with Mo?” she then specified.

Kyle replied, seemingly puzzled but also visibly annoyed, asking Dorit: “What makes you think this?”

“Well, like even just from Instagram,” Dorit began to explain.

“You know,” she reminded Kyle, “I usually see you and Mo together.”

Dorit then observed: “And it just seemed like you were spending a lot of time away from each other.” You could really hear the reluctance in her voice, too.

Bravo loves a shady edit, but this time, the edit held true to Dorit’s words.

We saw plenty of flashes of Morgan Wade in the montage of Kyle’s Instagram posts. And we even saw Kyle’s friend and accused cult leader Teddi Mellencamp.

Mauricio? Not so much. Was Kyle even aware that she was making this so obvious to the people who love her?

At this point, Kyle offered Dorit a partial explanation.

“I feel like I needed a little freedom,” she told her friend and castmate.

Kyle then continued: “Freedom and some space.” Well, a separation will definitely get you space.

Kyle admitted that she had not seen the clip ahead of appearing on the talk show.

This is the same interview during which Kyle observed that she had been “not quite” herself while filming Season 13. She characterized herself as a “little angry” and also a “little bitter.” And that’s going to continue to be evident on screen.

But, obviously, Kyle has also seen the headlines. And she presumably knows more about the situation than anyone.

This being a teaser trailer, it’s all very vague.

But we see a tearful Kyle seek comfort from a friend.

And she gets it. Erika Jayne is there to offer emotional support during this crisis … even if viewers don’t know every detail yet.

As viewers know, Erika Jayne is no stranger to giving people hell when someone’s backed her into a corner.

That is more or less her advice for Kyle.

“There are only two people in this marriage,” she counsels. “Everybody else’s opinion … can f–k off.”

As is almost always the case with these trailers, a good portion of the early seconds of the trailer lack context.

We see random flashes of the Housewives having fun, bantering, going on adventures.

That’s never the meat of the season. But if it were only drama, tears, and fights, the show would be difficult to watch.

So yes, we need these moments of levity — even in the trailer.

They help to build tension ahead of the conflicts and pain.

Also? It looks like some of the Housewives really, really needed to unwind.

There are actually a number of horny moments in this trailer.

While some of the Housewives are happily married (or at least pretend to be happy), others are very single.

So while some get down and dirty with some very hot guys, others just watch. But their reactions say it all.

You know what’s really fun in this trailer?

Seeing the banter between Garcelle and Erika specifically.

Whether they’re discussing the prospects of double-teaming a hot chef or salacious ways to pay for a ring, we’re really enjoying this.

Obviously, the trailer is right here.

But rest assured that our analysis will continue.

We’ve covered a number of these events as they unfolded in real time. It will be enlightening to see them from the perspectives of the Housewives.

The (major) cast trip this season is to Barcelona.

It appears that Sutton suggested it.

Real talk: the cast trips are just part of the job. Their fights and conflicts are real, but these goofy group outings are just a Bravo staple.

We actually covered their Barcelona trip this spring.

In very early May, glimpses of the cast in Spain drew attention because Kyle looked extremely slender.

Ozempic rumors emerged. Honestly, Kyle isn’t the only Housewife who is abruptly looking much, much more slender. (Just look at Sutton these days!)

One important detail to note is that there is a new Housewife in the mix.

We see here in multiple moments.

Her name is Annemarie Wiley. And it looks like she and Crystal Kung Minkoff might not be getting along.

Perhaps the trailer is being misleading. Only time will tell.

But it will be interesting to see how she meshes, or does not mesh, with everyone on the cast.

She is a neighbor of Kyle’s. And the two of them are friends.

Speaking of conflict, there are also ghosts of Housewives past who come to visit.

Most prominently, we see Denise Richards.

Remember, she was part of the cast just a couple of years ago. But when her castmates heard a claim that she’d slept with Brandi Glanville, she freaked out and turned what could have been a one-off story into a huge thing.

But notice that Camille is with her.

Denise gets into it with Erika Jayne. Erika, as you may recall, ended up having a central conflict (her divorce and her husband’s alleged crimes) in the wake of Denise’s departure.

It looks like Denise and Erika get into it immediately.

Erika brings up Denise’s OnlyFans. We’re not sure how this could be a negative. “People want to see me naked and will pay for the privilege” is pretty inherently positive.

And Denise accuses Erika of being “evil.” Erika’s so tired of this, and doesn’t even argue.

But, of course, the main course of the trailer is Kyle’s marriage to Mauricio.

In addition to the headlines claiming that the two were separating, there were other rumors.

Did someone cheat? If so, who cheated? Some headlines claimed that it was Kyle.

“I’m just glad it’s you that’s out there having an affair,” Mauricio jokes during the trailer. Clearly, he’s not taking it seriously.

Kyle then alludes to cheating rumors about Mauricio, replying: “For once it’s me.”

Those rumors claim that Kyle was having an affair with country music singer Morgan Wade. And yes, she shows up in the trailer, too.

Kyle’s castmates have picked up on some unexpected vibes.

For one thing, Kyle’s sometimes not wearing her wedding band. After decades of marriage, people tend to notice.

And for another, she tattoos her own initial onto Morgan’s arm. That’s … a very intimate act of what we’ll generously call “friendship.”

Ultimately, Kyle holds a tearful family meeting.

During it, she affirms the strength of their family.

Perhaps this is all very misleading. Or maybe there was a lot more going on behind the headlines earlier this year than anyone realized.

Now, as Kyle appears as Morgan’s love interest in her new music video, one of Kyle’s own friends is weighing in.

On Watch What Happens Live, Jeff Lewis “joked” about Kyle being a lesbian and losing weight on Ozempic.

How it started

On Tuesday, August 8, Jeff Lewis appeared alongside comedian Heather McDonald on Watch What Happens Live.

“Kyle and I are friends, and … she didn’t tell me she’s a lesbian on Ozempic,” Jeff said.

Andy Cohen became remarkably flustered by his line, even covering his face. It’s quite a statement.

Heather didn’t exactly help, even if her version of the “theory” was a bit more nuanced. And also more sincere.

“I definitely think she maybe is not in love or sexual,” she speculated. “But I think she was infatuated with Morgan.”

Not necessarily getting her hopes up, Heather added that she is a tremendous fan of “a late-in-life lesbian.” Relatable.

Heather also offered a very direct explanation for why she no longer believes that Kyle was straight-up having an affair with Morgan.

Simply put, she noted that Kyle has financially invested in Morgan’s career.

With that in mind, it’s absolutely in her best interests for people to talk about this woman.

Is it really all for PR?

Even people who have never voluntarily listened to non-Dolly Parton country music in their lives (myself included) know who Morgan is.

Why?

Because of these rumors. If that was Kyle’s plan, it worked. And Morgan’s new music video really makes that look like it was the plan all along.

Kyle also plays Morgan’s love interest in her “Fall In Love With Me” music video.

All of this does seem to feed together into interest in Morgan’s music career. If it’s intentional, it’s a smart gambit.

It’ll be up to Morgan and her music, and to country music fans in general, to decide if Kyle’s investment will pay off.

TMZ caught up with Jeff Lewis on Thursday, August 10. Naturally, they wanted to know about his comments.

“When I brought up Kyle Richards, she’s a friend of mine, I was totally joking,” he clarified. Obviously.

Jeff detailed: “I was poking fun at the absurdity of all the rumors going around that she’s a lesbian and that she’s on Ozempic. I simply meant it as a joke.”

Jeff added that he “text[ed] her this morning at 6:30 a.m.” but at the time had “yet to hear back.”

Had Kyle simply not responded to the text yet? Or is she royally pissed.

Jeff admitted: “I don’t know, I hope not.”

The silent treatment

Later that same day, Kyle confirmed over Amazon Live that she had received, but not replied to, Jeff Lewis’ texts.

“I’m not not talking to Jeff Lewis, I just don’t feel like responding to Jeff Lewis right now, to be honest with you,” she confessed. Harsh, but honest.

“I’m just tired of it,” Kyle added. She detailed: “I’m at my wit’s end with all of the stories about me out there and I just want everyone to be quiet.”

“It’s hard enough with people saying things about me and you just expect your friends not to,” Kyle added.

She expressed: “I kind of felt, like, yesterday with friends like that, who needs enemies?”
