Nicholas Galitzine is weighing in on the conversation surrounding his sexuality after finding his niche playing queer characters.

The actor, 29, swiftly became the internet’s boyfriend after starring in Amazon Prime’s queer rom-com Red, White & Royal Blue, which tells the story of a prince falling in love with the president’s son. Six months later, he played George Villiers, the son of a countess who seduces King James I in the drama miniseries Mary & George.

“I identify as a straight man, but I have been a part of some incredible queer stories,” Galitzine told GQ in an interview published Wednesday, May  8. “I felt a sense of uncertainty sometimes about whether I’m taking up someone’s space, and perhaps guilt. At the same time, I see those characters as not solely their sexuality.”

The British actor also pushed back on fans conflating him with his characters. “I am Nick, and I’m not my role,” he said.

Galitzine has been open about the gravitational pull LGBTQ+ stories have for him, telling Huffington Post UK that there are a “plethora of reasons” behind his desire to star in films with queer themes. “One, I have so many friends within the community, and I know so many of them didn’t feel like they had these stories growing up,” he noted earlier this year.

He explained that his role in Red, White & Royal Blue particularly spoke to his chums in the gay community. “My gay friends were like, ‘Wow, to have something cheesy and broad and wholesome is, like, really, really important,’ and I think the resonance of that means a lot to me,” he said.

There’s an added layer to the roles that stands out as well, Galitzine explained. “I think with all of these characters the thing that I find really intriguing as an actor is that underbelly of vulnerability and having to hide oneself,” he continued. “I’m very interested in identity.”

Most recently, Galitzine starred alongside Anne Hathaway in the rom-com The Idea of You. The film, based on the novel of the same name by Robinne Lee, follows a divorced mother (Hathaway) who starts up a romance with a much younger pop star (Galitzine). While promoting the movie, which hit Amazon Prime on Thursday, May 2, Galitzine shared that he was drawn to the film’s subversive nature, which contradicts the typical rom-com archetypes.

“The notion that this movie promotes female pleasure as this sort of protagonist I think is really interesting and unique, and obviously displays an age-gap love that we don’t usually see on screen between a younger man and an older woman,” he told Hits Radio in March. “It was very exciting in that way, as well.”

Prince William was thinking about Princess Kate Middleton during his latest outing.

The Prince of Wales, 41, who surprised students at St Michael’s Church of England High School on Thursday, April 25, shared that he was “sorry” his wife couldn’t be there.

“She would have loved to,” he noted, according to the Daily Mail. Kate, 42, is currently undergoing preventive chemotherapy after discovering cancer was present during abdominal surgery in January.

The royal’s visit happened thanks to student Freddie Hadley, who sent the prince a personal letter inviting him to the school. In his note, Freddie explained that a group of boys aged 11-14 meet every week to develop ideas and projects that put a spotlight on male mental health.

He invited the future king to St. Michael’s for the launch of a campaign last October, but the royal was unable to make it due to a prior engagement.

Upon arriving on Thursday, William told him: “Well done you, I’m here now. Your letter worked. I’m sorry I couldn’t come to you in October.”

The pair joined other children to record a segment for the school’s radio station and the prince was asked to share “dad jokes.” He told knock-knock jokes, which he said were Princess Charlotte’s favorite.

William returned to his royal duties last week after taking some time off following Kate’s cancer diagnosis. The family has been keeping a low profile since Kate revealed her medical issues, although she and William took the time to thank well-wishers in March.

For his first public-facing return, William visited the food distribution charity Surplus to Supper, which delivers, sorts and repackages unused food to community groups. He later stopped by a youth center that receives the surplus food and distributes it to people in need.

In a social media clip from the event, a volunteer gifted William get-well cards for Kate. “Oh, some cards, you’re very kind,” he replied. The Telegraph reported on Thursday that the woman told William to “look after” his wife, to which he responded, “I will.”

Prince William isn’t above getting his hands dirty. The royal, 41, revealed that he takes good care of the family’s guinea pig during a visit to Woodgate Valley Urban Farm on Thursday, April 25.

Victoria Ward, Deputy Royal Editor at the Daily Telegraph, took to X to share a clip of a gleeful-looking William, writing, “Prince William said he was so happy stroking Snowflake the guinea pig at Woodgate Valley Urban Farm, just outside Birmingham, that he didn’t want to leave. He revealed that his kids always forget to clean out their own guinea pig, leaving him to do it.”

In the clip, William can be seen complimenting the farm’s guinea pigs, declaring that they looked “very well-loved” and “extremely cozy.” He was handed Snowflake to look after and brightly said to the furry creature, “Hello, hi!”

The guinea pig  isn’t the only animal friend to call Windsor home. In January 2021, Us Weekly confirmed that the family received a puppy from Kate’s brother, James Middleton. According to The Mail on Sunday, the new addition arrived before the death of their dog Lupo, which they announced in November 2020.

He continued: “There isn’t much of a rule book on how to grieve for a dog, but I’ve said a prayer, lit a candle and taken Ella (Mum) for a long walk to spend time remembering Lupo. Matty Healy’s mom, Denise Welch, knows how to dodge an awkward question.

Welch, 65, a panelist on ITV’s Loose Women, was asked about Taylor Swift’s recently released album, The Tortured Poets Department, on the Thursday, April 25, episode of the talk show. TTPD has been widely speculated to feature songs inspired by Healy, 35, and his past relationship with Swift, 34.

“Taylor Swift has a new album out, have you heard it Denise?” cohost Nadia Sawalha coyly asked Welch. Healy’s mom jokingly responded, “I wasn’t aware she had an album out at all, I haven’t heard anything about it.”

She added with a smile, “Anyway, I wish her all the best.”

More than 10 years after The Office took its final bow, Steve Carell and John Krasinski are collaborating on their next project, IF, and there’s video footage of their sweet reunion. Paramount Pictures released a clip of the duo sharing an embrace as Carell, 61, walked in to greet his costar.

“Has it been years?” Krasinski, 44, asks. “Years,” Carell responds.

The pair then jokingly reenacted their reunion again after Carell noticed that they were being filmed. “Let me try it one more time,” Carell quipped, which resulted in Krasinski demonstrating a spit take.

Hogwarts will always be home to those who need it — take it from Jessie Cave, who played Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter franchise.

While appearing at Dream It Con on Saturday, March 23, the actress, 36, addressed her former costar Miriam Margolyes‘ recent comments about adult fans of the series. “It’s such a shame that that happened,” she said. “You know how she is, she’s just a bit funny. And I think she didn’t mean for it to be taken like that, I hope. … I really don’t like that she said that.”

Cave pointed out that Harry Potter’s fan base “has aged and is still bonded through [it], and it’s passed on to younger people and younger generations, and that’s what’s so amazing.”

“She probably just doesn’t understand that [or] get that. So that’s OK, and just let her be,” the actress continued. “But I think it’s just very unusual, this situation.”

'Harry Potter' Stars: Where Are They Now?

Earlier this year, Margoyles sparked social media buzz after declaring in an interview with New Zealand’s 1News, “I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should be over that by now.”

The 82-year-old, who played Professor Pomona Sprout in the films, noted her surprise that fans are still bringing up Harry Potter when she gets Cameo requests. “People say, ‘We’re having a Harry Potter-themed wedding,’ and I think, ‘Gosh, what’s their first night of fun going to be?’ I can’t even think about it. No.”

Harry Potter was celebrated at a fan convention in France over the weekend, with appearances from Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom), Devon Murray (Seamus Finnigan) and Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas).

Grint and Cave, who played an ill-fated couple in the franchise, playfully recreated an iconic scene involving Lavender gifting Ron with a necklace. Set to the Simple Plan song “I’m Just a Kid,” the TikTok of the pair pulled in more than 2 million likes. “Lavender Brown reunited with her Won-won this weekend at our #ETWW convention! ,”  Dream It Con captioned the post.

‘Harry Potter’ TV Show Could Come to HBO Max by 2026

While Cave is an ardent supporter of Harry Potter fans, she’s been candid about her own complicated experience starring in the series.

“I gained a lot of weight after doing Harry Potter, just because I wasn’t starving myself. And I was growing up and that’s just what happens,” she told The Independent in a June 2021 interview. Cave recalled being “treated like a different species” when she returned to film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

“It was horrible. It was probably more me and my insecurity, knowing that I wasn’t fitting into the same size jeans, but it wasn’t a time where actresses were any bigger than a size eight [U.K.],” she explained. “And in the previous film I had been, and now I was a size 12. So that was horrible. It was a really uncomfortable experience.”

Cave added that she felt “invisible” while on set. “And since then, it’s made me have weird issues with weight and work,” she said. “And it’s so f—ked up, but it’s just how it is. Women have to deal with that all the time.”
