As a side note, my 'mother-tongue' is FORTRAN, being the first computer language i learnt in 1987.

Just concluded a fifteen day tour of seven countries in Western Europe. Had visited the US more than 10 years ago.

Noticed a similarity in the graffiti font on the walls, in Europe and US. The same styling of letters, the same leftward slant. In more than half of the cases.

Is there someone who teaches the graffiti writers about this so-called graffiti font? Cannot be just a coincidence, isn't it?

Was interesting and extremely happy to watch the live feed of India's Chandrayaan mission, with the lander making a soft landing near the South Pole of the moon. Hearty congratulations to Team ISRO.

Did any of you watch it?

I am teaching basic arithmetic operations of integers - addition, subtraction, multiplication, division - to a middle school student. and am looking for innovative ways to teach these operations, in an easy-to-understand manner. Finding that the student at hand tends to repeat the mistakes, and is finding it difficult to learn; perhaps there's a basic fear instinct about mathematics in general.

How to get the child overcome such fear, and make him successful? Any ideas are welcome, am open to experimentation here. Thanks a lot.
